RAMPANT ILLEGITIMATE LOAN MODIFIERS:
ATTORNEY PLEADS CUOMO FOR INTERVENTION

>

Staten Island, NY (December 16, 2008) - Michael M. Menicucci, Esq. calls on the aid and investigation of the Office of the NYS Attorney General Andrew M. Cuomo about the alarming rate of failed loan modifications performed by unauthorized and unqualified consultants that has victimized distressed homeowners to default, re-default, and even foreclosure.

These mitigation consultants are “engaging in the unauthorized practice of law to the detriment of the homeowner, the taxpayer and the banking industry.” With a letter addressed to Mr. Cuomo, Menicucci states, “it seems evident the distressed homeowner our government is now seeking to assist… is once again becoming the target of entities seeking solely to capitalize on the homeowners’ hardship without any fiduciary responsibility.”

Menicucci is a Staten Island-based attorney practicing in real estate, banking and related legal issues and is a partner of Menicucci-Villa & Associates, PLLC.  He is the go-to attorney in situations dealing with the nation’s foreclosure crisis and its affect on Island families and companies. Menicucci has also acted as a loyal advisor to a host of city and state officials on broader economic/legal issues, even beginning his career post-graduation from St. John’s University as a legislative assistant to Republican Rep. Guy Molinari in the early 1980s.  More recently, Republican State Senator Andrew Lanza appointed Menicucci as the Special Counsel for Homeowner and Mortgage Issues.
